At Nexus, we’re always up for a challenge, especially when it comes to supporting a cause that’s close to our hearts. That’s why we’re excited to announce that four members of our team — Andrew Slywka, Joshua Page, Lee Tonkin, Sarah Bailey, and Sam Longridge — are gearing up to take on the ultimate red-hot challenge: a firewalk!
On the evening of 17th of October at Winslade Manor in Exeter, our brave team will be walking across scorching hot coals to raise much-needed funds for our charity of the year, Hospiscare.
Why We’re Doing This
Hospiscare has been our charity partner for several years, and we’re passionate about supporting their incredible work. As our local hospice, Hospiscare provides free, specialised nursing care to terminally ill patients across Exeter, Mid Devon, East Devon, and North Dartmoor. They look after more than 700 patients at any given time, offering vital support in their own homes and in the hospice.
This isn’t just a challenge—it’s a mission. Hospiscare relies on the generosity of the community to continue providing its essential services. Every pound raised is crucial in helping them be there for patients and their families during the most difficult times.
Why Hospiscare is Hosting a Firewalk
To continue funding their services, Hospiscare needs to raise £10 million annually. The firewalk is a new, exciting event designed to push participants both mentally and physically. Unlike some challenges that require extensive training or high levels of fitness, the firewalk is accessible to a wide range of people who want to make a difference.
