Powerful Insights and Engaging Speakers at the latest Nexus Presents

IT Support provider Nexus hosted yet another successful thought leadership event titled Nexus Presents: Looking Forward, on 6th July 2023.

Held at the prestigious Exeter Golf and Country Club, this event attracted business leaders from across the Southwest who were eager to gain valuable insights and actionable takeaways for their business.

The morning began with an abundance of networking as familiar faces and new participants filled the venue with enthusiasm.

Four remarkable speakers took to the stage and shared their invaluable insights on the theme “Looking Forward” to empower delegates in their business endeavours.

Alastair Banks from Optix Solutions was up first and kicked off the morning by revealing his five steps to building a future-ready marketing team and strategy. Alastair shared his insight on how the digital landscape looks today, noting the sudden rise of AI and its impact on marketing roles. Alastair then went on to share his tips on building a responsive and varied marketing team to manage the ever-changing landscape and reminded our delegates not to forget the importance of on-going staff training.

Ben Herbert from Bishop Fleming Chartered Accountants was next and gave our audience something to consider when it came to forecasting and financial modelling. Ben discussed the importance of tracking your business performance through a flexible and fluid approach, considering both commercial and economic challenges and changes. Ben also shared his insights on the key to staff motivation – understanding people on an individual level and uncovering their unique driving forces.

John Brett from Nexus Open Systems followed Ben by giving a candid talk about culture. Openly sharing the cultural changes that Nexus has implemented over the past few years, John revealed the changes surprisingly that didn’t work as well as they had predicted. John also spoke about the flexibility that Nexus offer today, ensuring their people have a work environment that suits their individual preferences and their future plans, to further enhance this employee-first approach.

Thomas Chartres-Moore, Partner at Stephens Scown, perfectly finished the morning by sharing his unique and engaging take on how technology is shaping the legal sector, especially the impact of AI on law firms. Tom also encouraged our audience to look outside of their sector for inspiration. Tom has evolved his own IP and Data team to become a market disrupter in their field by breaking out from the traditional norm and building on innovative ideas not yet seen in the legal sector.

Stuart Wilson Managing Director at Nexus comments “The whole team at Nexus were extremely grateful to these four individuals for drawing from their expertise and experiences to provide tangible takeaways that delegates can readily implement in their respective businesses. These events are designed to add value to the business community and it was great that our speakers all had something very different to offer.”

Now with the second event complete, we have our sights set on the future, with their next event scheduled for the 5th October at Winslade Manor – Nexus Presents: Brilliance.

Coinciding with our 25th anniversary; it’s going to be an inspiring and insightful full day conference. You can expect speakers from the Met Office, Dell, Cyber Security Associates, Stephens Scown, Exeter City Council, Gamma, Kaseya and the SW Cyber Crime Unit, plus many more.
