Nexus Junior Tennis Tour Finals

Last weekend Exeter Golf and Country Club hosted the finals of the second Nexus Junior Tennis tour. The top eight players from the county in the 12U and 16U age groups came together for the action-packed finals. After some very close games and superb play, the title winners were Robert Townsend (16U boys) and Isaac Halliday (12U mixed). The winners and runners-up receiving a trophy and prize, with all participants receiving a medal and sponsors bag of goodies.

This new junior sports circuit is a collaboration between Devon Tennis and Nexus Open Systems. The goal of the project is to offer opportunities for juniors across Devon who may not get the chance to take part in competitive tennis. The number of entrants has increased significantly over our first Winter tour, a positive indicator that the circuit is satisfying a real need for junior players in Devon.

Jemima Morris, Competition Coordinator for Devon Tennis, and Stuart Wilson, Managing Director of Nexus Open Systems both attended the finals. During the winner’s presentation, Stuart commented

“For Nexus, this is about supporting and opening the sport to a wider audience within Devon, and hopefully encouraging more children to get active and take part in competitive sport for fun. The feedback from both participants and parents has been very positive which is great to hear. Well done to the winners and everyone who took part in the Summer tour, we look forward to seeing familiar and new faces at the Winter tour.”
