Infrastructure & Gateways

Nexus work with many of the industry’s leading IT and communication infrastructure manufacturers to ensure we have the widest range of products in our portfolio to meet the needs of small-, medium- and enterprise-sized organisations.

We specialise in deploying and supporting unified communication infrastructure and media gateways that connect PBX, IP and PSTN voice networks to Microsoft Lync or alternative communication platforms.

Media gateways from Nexus provide the essential interface between your VoIP network and legacy telephony equipment, TDM PBXs and the PSTN. The devices support a wide variety of digital and analogue telephony interfaces (E1/T1, BRI, FXO/FXS) with flexible density options to suit even the most complex of deployments. The underlying voice processing technology ensures exceptionally high levels of voice quality.

Our experienced team of consultants and engineers can help your organisation to plan and manage the following communication infrastructure and connectivity technologies:

  • Legacy and IP-based Private Branch Exchanges (PBXs)
  • Public Switched Telephone Networks (PSTN)
  • SIP and IP Trunking
  • Fax machines, analogue phones and IP phones

Reliable network infrastructure services at remote offices are essential in order to maintain business application availability for critical processes such as voice and video. Nexus supply enhanced gateways that offer direct SIP connectivity between your enterprise voice infrastructure and PSTN, supporting gradual migration from TDM to IP, and PSTN to SIP trunking using enterprise class session border controllers.

There are a wide variety of infrastructure and media gateway considerations that must be addressed to deliver a successful unified communication project. Nexus technical personnel can guide you through the process and ensure you purchase the right equipment, licensing, IT services and support.

VoIP & SIP Trunking

Nexus has selected a number of strategic partners to provide customers with VoIP and SIP connectivity service options.

SIP trunking provides deliver telephone services and unified communications to customers equipped with SIP-based private branch exchange (IP-PBX) and Unified Communications facilities. Unlike traditional telephony where physical wires were once delivered from a telecoms company, SIP trunking operates over an existing broadband or leased line allowing an organisation to replace their traditional fixed PSTN lines with a SIP trunking service provider.

To utilise SIP trunks you need either an IP enabled PBX or a media gateway. Outgoing calls are then routed out via the SIP trunk instead of using costly PSTN lines. SIP trunks offer significant cost savings, eliminating the need for analogue, ISDN BRIs (Basic Rate Interfaces) or PRIs (Primary Rate Interfaces).

With SIP trunks, home workers can use the internet to stay connected to the office, make telephone calls or use other communication tools. You can connect multiple office PBXs and eliminate the cost of inter office telephone calls and offer the flexibility of overflowing calls to other offices at peak times or out of hours.

The VoIP and SIP trunking packages that Nexus supply include the following features and benefits:

  • No requirement for an on-site session border controller.
  • Disaster recovery plan for emergency routing to alternative IP addresses or PSTN numbers.
  • Near real-time call detail reporting via secure portal.
  • Access to international local numbers in over 50 countries.
  • Full local number portability in the UK and many other countries.
  • No additional equipment required to connect with Microsoft Lync.
  • Ability to dimension channel allocation.
  • Improved call security with call encryption (transport layer security).

Nexus offer a full SIP installation and configuration service that ensures your SIP trunks are deployed effectively; if necessary we can provide structured cabling services to facilitate your connectivity plans.
