MAM Funds wanted a Microsoft Gold Certified Partner to help replace their server hardware and upgrade to Microsoft Exchange Server 2007.
MAM Funds is a stock-market listed company based in Exeter providing investment management and specialist financial planning services. The company has six offices around the country, employing 100 staff, with the Head Office located in Exeter.
Nexus Open Systems originally worked with MAM Funds in 2007 when Nexus completed a data replication project to increase data security and resilience for the organisation. Nexus technical staff provided consultancy services to configure, deploy and fully test a failover solution between sites. DoubleTake software was used to give a failover to the MAM Funds Disaster Recovery site located in Bournemouth and then failback to the main operations site in Exeter. DoubleTake performs this service for the MAM Funds Microsoft Exchange Server, three Microsoft SQL Servers and a data server.
More recently Nexus assisted MAM Funds with the migration from Exchange Server 2003 to Exchange Server 2007, which was deployed on a new Windows 2008 Server. This has allowed MAM Funds to take advantage of the latest features as well as using Active-Sync to enable mobile access to Calendar and Email. The project included:
- Microsoft Exchange Server migration from 2003 to 2007
- E-mail and Calendar delivered direct to handset using active-sync
- Improved Outlook Web Access interface and feature set for remote workers
- Unified messaging support
- Integrated antivirus, anti-spam and anti-phishing technologies
- Ongoing support services through Nexus Telephone Helpdesk and Retained Technical Services (RTS)
Mark Dobson – Hill, IT Manager, comments “We appreciate the skills and level of expertise that Nexus brought to this project. The DoubleTake consultancy was carried out over the weekend to include a complete install, configuration and test. The Nexus engineer was highly knowledgeable, which was essential for a project of this importance to us”
