Knightstone Housing wanted to replace their Citrix Xen Server virtualisation platform with a VMware vSphere Enterprise solution.

Solution

Knightstone Housing are leaders in developing and managing affordable homes to rent, and running Government-funded schemes to people buy their own homes.

The organisation wanted to replace their Citrix Xen Server virtualisation platform with a VMware vSphere Enterprise solution. Nexus were selected as the project consultants for this project because of our proven track record with previous projects, our VMware Enterprise partnership and the technical certifications held by Nexus engineers.

The project was a great success, and included the following highlights:

  • Consultancy on all aspects of the project; from virtualisation deployment to storage design
  • Deployed a VMware vSphere Enterprise environment running on HP DL380 G7 servers and EMC SANs
  • Performed performance and failover testing of new infrastructure
  • Migration of Citrix Xen Server hosted VMs to VMware vSphere platform
  • Designed and Implemented network VLAN structure to account for virtualisation platform design
  • Provided consultancy on P2V migrations of virtual machines
  • Customer achieved higher virtual machine consolidation ratio using vSphere’s memory  conservation technology
  • On-going support services through Nexus Helpdesk and Retained Technical Services (RTS)
