Overview

Exeter City Council needed a new computer network and ICT partner to help meet the demands of modern e-Government.

Solution

Exeter City Council (ECC) provides local government services to a quarter of a million residents. The Council delivers services ranging from refuse collection, provision of housing, health services, managing elections and promoting the city for tourism and business.

In 2001 Nexus were awarded the tender to supply, install and help support ECC's critical computer network systems. For over ten years Nexus engineers have worked closely with the IT Team at ECC to plan and instigate innovative IT projects including:

  • Installation of Nortel Networks Passport 8600 central network switch
  • Installation of edge business policy switches
  • Installation of network management station with Optivity software
  • All equipments tested and configured prior to installation
  • Arranged a new IP structure and allocated addresses
  • Regular planning and strategy meetings
  • Ongoing support services through Nexus Telephone Helpdesk and Retained Technical Services (RTS)
