Ensors Chartered Accountants
Established in 1889, Ensors is one of East Anglia’s oldest and most respected firms of chartered accountants. Their specialist teams deliver a wide range of services including accounts and outsourcing, audit and assurance, business advisory and turnaround, insolvency, and tax and tax planning.
As they’ve grown, the importance of having a secure back-up solution has never been more paramount. Whilst efforts had been made to develop their solution, it wasn’t providing them with the level of service that they needed. Ultimately, Ensors had outgrown their IT backup solution and it had to be re-designed.
Ensors’ infrastructure manager, Bryan Hatt explained: “We had an existing agreement with an IT provider and an existing backup solution, but it was not performing well, and the backup took 24 hours to complete.”
He added: “We went with Nexus because of their Veeam accreditation, and we were happy with the solution they provided us with.”
The existing IT backup system was slow and required a complete overhaul to bring it up to date and provide Ensors with a globally secure, efficient, encrypted and tamper-proof storage solution.
Nexus met with Ensors’ IT team and worked together to outline key objectives and requirements for the backup solution. We conducted a remote technical audit, assisted by Ensors. As one of only four Veeam accredited service providers in the UK, Nexus has a number of specialists, including Veeam Certified Architects.
We assessed multiple aspects of Ensors’ existing backup environment. We provided a report with detailed, costed recommendations, based on a combination of industry best practice and Veeam’s product guidance. We covered:
- Licensing costs and considerations
- Resilience against different risks, such as equipment failure, external hackers, insider threats, technical faults, and disasters.
- Management controls and monitoring
- The hardware hosting the backup system
- Connectivity speeds
- Viability, speed and efficiency of the recovery process
- Allowances for future growth
We were able to present an option within budget that met the objectives of the project whilst following design guidelines and planning for future growth.
Our experienced engineers carefully designed a bespoke solution, with technical best practice at the core. Nexus’s support and aftercare meant that the customer has confidence in the future performance of the solution.
Nexus project delivery manager, Neale Frood said: “In the event of a disaster, Ensors’ data is now easily and quickly recoverable. Going forward, their most important business asset is secure, recoverable, and the backup is always current.”
As well as looking for a trusted and experienced partner to consult on the Veeam re-design, Ensors also wanted a Managed Support Service, to both monitor and proactively support the new Veeam backup environment. Nexus’s award-winning managed service offering was a perfect fit, and meant that Ensors could be confident that the ongoing support, upkeep and technical conservation of the solution was ensured.
