First look technical IT training courses
Scomis had a requirement to showcase Windows 8, Windows Server 2012 and System Center 2012 to their desktop support team and enthuse them about new Microsoft products being deployed by the organisation during the forthcoming year.
Scomis support all aspects of the ICT systems at schools and academic institutions in Devon. Based at Great Moor House in Exeter, Scomis are responsible for supporting nearly 600 schools, over 24,000 PC's and nearly 96,000 pupils and staff. The organisation leads the way in ICT development and technical support for schools and academies.
Scomis had a requirement to showcase Windows 8, Windows Server 2012 and System Center 2012 to their desktop support team and enthuse them about new Microsoft products being deployed by the organisation during the forthcoming year. They wanted their personnel to be able to learn about new key features of the software products and as an additional outcome use the training to identify any IT training courses that would be appropriate for each team member.
Having worked in collaboration with Scomis over a period of time, Nexus training consultants had an insight into the IT training requirements of the organisation and their engineers and desktop support team. It was determined that Nexus should design and tailor a bespoke one day "First Look" technical training course to cover new Microsoft software products that the organisation would deploy internally and externally at schools during 2013.
The course was delivered at the Nexus Training Centre in Exeter and it was designed to enable Scomis technical personnel to view the latest versions of Microsoft Windows client and server working in a System Center environment. Nexus also supplied a selection of the latest Windows 8 mobile computing devices to provide delegates with hands-on experience.
The technical overview training was a great success and Scomis course appraisal forms completed by delegates confirmed that the course met their exact requirements. A Microsoft certified Nexus Training Instructor combined a presentation of the new key features of Windows 8 and Windows Server 2012 with a full demonstration of the capabilities of System Center 2012 to manage complex ICT environments.
The training also offered Scomis personnel with the opportunity to see the latest mobile devices and as a result of the course the organisation has determined a complete Microsoft Training programme to enhance and develop the skills and knowledge of their desktop support team.
