Migration to Microsoft Office 365

The practice engaged with Nexus to determine their exact requirements and a Senior Nexus Systems Engineer supplied IT consultancy and analysis to recommend how best to migrate from an on premise installation of Microsoft Windows Small Business Server (SBS) 2008 with Exchange 2007, to a Microsoft cloud computing based system utilising Office 365.

The existing Windows SBS server was reaching capacity and the practice wanted to take advantage of the increased data storage, resilience, collaboration tools, flexibility and control that a cloud computing service would offer their organisation.

Following a detailed project initiation meeting Nexus provided systems migration assistance and installation and configuration services to Drew Pearce as they migrated their computing environment to the Microsoft Office 365 E1 plan.

Nexus systems engineers worked closely with the practice to ensure that the migration from an on premise Exchange 2007 email service to a cloud based solution was completed with as little interruption to their day to day operation as possible, and the entire project was completed within a five day period.

The project was planned, managed and deployed on time and key deliverables included:

  • Sign up of organisation to the Microsoft Office 365 E1 plan
  • Configuration of all prerequisites for migration including creation of all user Office 365 accounts
  • Successful alignment of Client PCs to use Outlook Anywhere
  • Microsoft Exchange 2007 batch job migration setup in Office 365
  • Autodiscover DNS and MX record changes completed to finalise email migration
  • Minimal disruption to end users
  • Advice and guidance about new features, functionality and administration
