The Role

What does a Service Delivery Technician role involve?

A Service Delivery Technician at Nexus provides second line support to our clients. You will be part of our team who take ownership of incidents and resolve issues within contracted SLA.

You will be providing remote and onsite support to our clients, representing us in a professional and helpful capacity.

Additionally, you will be an escalation point for our service delivery analysts and will provide them with mentoring needed to assist their learning journey.

About You

What do I need to succeed
as a Service Delivery Technician?

Primarily, you must be an experienced and technically proficient IT engineer with the skills to support core IT technologies across both software and hardware including (but not limited to); networks, on-prem and cloud infrastructure, virtualisation, wireless networks and Windows operating systems.

You must:

  • Be able to talk to people both in person and on the phone, understanding their support needs and able to explain instructions.
  • Be able to demonstrate your technical experience and professional skills supporting core IT technologies, including:
    • Configuring and troubleshooting Windows Server and accompanying roles such as Active Directory, DHCP, DNS, Exchange, Group Policy, SQL, RRAS.
    • Supporting current Windows versions.
    • Network administration and troubleshooting skills in switching, routers and firewalls (Draytek, Sonicwall, Cisco).
    • SSL
    • Administration of virtual server environments.
    • Backup solutions, strategies and restoring data (Veeam).
    • Azure network, server and resource infrastructure.
  • Have spent 3 years or more working on an IT support/service desk and be used to application support plus have working knowledge of supporting on-premise and 365 environments. Working for an MSP previously will be a bonus.
  • Be confident and competent in installing updates and service packs on servers, workstations and other hardware infrastructure whilst assessing business impact and risks associated with carrying out such work.
  • Be a well-organised, hardworking, pro-active team player, taking pride in achieving objectives.
  • Be able to identify areas of improvement and constructively highlight to the relevant persons.
  • Be able to record and document your time and any actions taken.

Desirable skills include:

  • Microsoft Exchange migration and deployment experience.
  • Microsoft SharePoint administration and support.
  • Microsoft Intune administration and support.
  • Microsoft Defender administration and support.
  • Microsoft 365 migration and deployment experience.
  • Microsoft Azure IAAS administration and support.
  • Familiarity with SANs and accompanying technologies.
  • Unified Communications, Microsoft Teams.
  • Dell and other major IT vendor accreditations.
  • Hyper V and VMware support and incident management experience.

Certification

Have you got Microsoft certifications already? Great! Whilst practical experience is key, we will need you to learn and pass vendor exams. Everyone has an individual training plan. By the end of your probationary period, we would like you to attain certifications in line with yours.

The Details

Salary: £32,000 – £39,000 per annum

We’re our clients IT partner, with an expertly designed support structure, processes and advanced tools to make our clients IT secure and compliant. If you’ve spent more than 3 years working for an IT helpdesk supporting users with M365 environments, have a look at this role! We are seeking additional skilled Service Delivery Technicians who want opportunities to expand their knowledge and expertise.

All our technical staff are given the chance to learn and develop. You will be able to gain Microsoft and other industry certifications.

Location: Exeter/Hybrid Working

We are hybrid working, giving you flexibility to work from home and in our Exeter office. This role requires you to work in the Exeter office at least 1 – 2 days a week, there will be client site visits needed too.

As you will be required to work at client sites, you must have a full UK driving licence and be able to use your own vehicle for business use.

Hours: 37.5 hours per week

We support our clients when they need it, so need to ensure there is cover from 8am to 6pm during the working week (Mon-Fri). We try to be as flexible as possible to suit the needs of both the business and family life.
